今巻の感想を先に言うと九章の神狩屋の話と、八百比丘尼と人魚姫を絡めた物語がかなり印象に残った感じです。九章の話は個人的には出てくるタイミングが上手いと思います(正直な話すごくびっくりした)。泡の泡禍の意味はそう言う泡禍だったんだと素直に納得です(悪夢と言えばたしかに悪夢)。

人魚姫編の完結です。

とても哀しいお話でしたね。
愛する者を亡くす哀しみが強く胸に響きました。
いやまあ、哀しいだけでは終わらないのが甲田作品なのですがね。

1巻などのように、スプラッタ表現は多くないです。
血まみれで痛い!というシーンも少ない。
ですが、血まみれにならなくても気分が悪くなる…そんなシーンが意外なところに挿入されています。
これぞ、真の「グロテスク」といったところでしょう。
スプラッタだけが甲田作品の全てではない、と分からせてくれる一冊です。

個人的には、後書きや作者近影も見所だと思います(笑)

5.0 out of 5 stars なるほど、ある意味「メルヘン」だ, 2007/3/8
グリム童話をモチーフにしたホラー小説の第三弾の後編。
副題の通り、「人魚姫」をモチーフとした内容になっています。

今作のキモは、物語終盤に出てくる、たった一行の表現。
「精神的ブラクラ」と言っても差し支えないくらい、
すさまじい衝撃と、気分の悪さを味わう事が出来ます。
これに比べれば、今までのグロ表現なんて子供だましみたいなものです。

それはさておき、このシリーズも４冊目という事で、
物語中におけるキャラクターの立ち位置も確定し、
安心して（？）読める内容に仕上がっています。
今まで以上に技巧が凝らされた構成になっており、
先が気になってどんどん読み進めてしまう面白さは今まで通り。
「甲田学人ファン」には、自信をもってオススメ出来ます。
