他人を完全に理解してしまう少年、人の思考を誘導する少女、「優等生」という枠の中で間違いを知らないまま成長した少年…。
彼らは物語の序盤で死亡する「殺人を志向する少年」に関してそれぞれの思惑を持って行動し、それが各々の主観で描かれています。

彼らの持つ様々な想いが錯綜して交差し、最後には綺麗に締めくくられます。

物語の最後まで、序盤で死亡した人物が登場人物全体に大きな影響を与え続けるという構図に不気味で斬新な印象を受けました。

面白い。斬新。
全体としては少々暗めで鬱っぽい、というのが第一印象。
最初いきなり『魔法』がどうとか言い出したので、なんだかんだ言って電撃的萌え少女路線（？）を走っていってしまうのかな、問題作ってそういうのに対する問題だったらどうしよう、などと思い一度購入するか迷ったのですが、後輩から薦められて読みました。
挿絵がなかったり、他の電撃レーベルの本とは明らかに雰囲気の違う作品です。個人的にはこの作品には挿絵がない方がいい。挿絵がないからこそいい。と思います。
そこらへんは賛否両論みたいですが・・・読んでみて損をすることはないと思います。個人的には中学生~の年齢層の人に読んで欲しい。

つまらないわけではなく、面白い部分は確かにある。
しかし、あらゆる意味で中途半端感が否めない。
問題作というほどの過激さがあるわけではなく、狂気的というほどの狂気があるわけでもない。
情景描写がほぼなく、かつ挿絵がないせいで灰色の平坦な物語に仕上がっているが、結果的にそれが生きているとは言い難い。
話の要素にしても、ミステリとしてもホラーにしてもエンターテイメントにしても特化しているわけではない。
設定にしても月並みではないが飛び抜けて生かされてるわけではない。
やりたい事は分かるが、どこをとってもここが凄い、素晴らしいというものがない。
突き抜けたものがない。かといって完成されてるわけでもない。
そんな中途半端感の否めない小説であると思う。
