5.0 out of 5 stars この吸血鬼は元は罪も無い女の子だったのか, 2005/2/27
表紙絵にやられて衝動買いしました。本読むまでこの作品の存在自体知らなかったのですが、読んでみると意外と面白いのです。話に山場とかは特にないのですが、少女と青年の簡単には言えない重い過去と、今を明るく楽しく生きようとする姿のギャップがたまりません。また2人の物静かな生活に憧れすら抱いてしまいます。本作は吸血鬼と人間がメインのようだけど、この吸血鬼は元々がそうであったのでなく、誰にかに吸血鬼にされた被害者なのかもしれません（連載のほうは読んでないので…）。青年もその関係で要らない力を得たようです。癒えない傷と重い業を背負いながら、生活の中で笑いあう彼らの存在が何故か美しく感じるのです。

吸血鬼によるPapaToldMe。
愛情あふれる物語と過酷な設定による物語をうまく融合している。

設定などは今風な悲壮感漂うものでありながら、実際には全編にわたって愛情あふれるストーリーになっており、普通じゃない愛情しか描かない物語が多い中、今の人が忘れていたような、少し恥ずかしくなるようなそれでいて「自然な愛情」が描かれている。

親の愛情と少女の淡い愛情、その交錯する感じがうまく描かれており、オタク漫画雑誌連載ながら、子供にも十分読ませられる漫画になっていると思う。

絵的にもかなり気を使っているのだと思うが、彼らの住む部屋の、コミックの表紙のような温かみのある色使いや雰囲気の良い家具等は、演出的にすばらしいと思う。著者はどうもかなり筆は遅いみたいだが、こまわりの工夫や細かいところの描き込みなどを見るとそれもうなずける。

ヒグレの話を見た限り、人魚シリーズのような、命のような重いテーマも取り扱うのだろうか・・・。
そういうテーマをクロエとミサキの間で描くことができれば、さらに一回りすごい物語になるかもしれない・・・。

作者が同人誌で出版していたものを原題とし、商業誌へ連載が開始された作品として注目していた作品だったが、
年齢不詳の作家と美しい少女が、何故か一つ屋根の下で暮らしている、という設定はあまり個性的というわけではなく、
青年が超能力をもつ武術の達人、少女が吸血鬼という設定も安直でありふれている。
だが、この作品のもつ雰囲気は、そのような設定の凡庸さを感じさせない、地に足がついたドラマに感じる。

主人公の超人さも、少女の不死身も物語の構成上の調味料に過ぎない。
それを認識し、きっちりとキャラクターをストーリー上に生かす空気が、この手の漫画では珍しく感じられるのは嬉しい。
よくあるバトルモノと違い、だらだらと戦闘を続けない点も、読んでいて気持ちいい。

実は著者による前作、途中で休載扱いになっている『クロノスヘイズ』が肌に合わず、さほど期待して居なかったのだが、
嬉しい誤算とでも言おうか、本作は非常に面白く感じる。
同人誌でとっていた手法を用いてコマ枠を引かず作られた話も、
穏やかな話の流れをより一層穏やかに感じさせるようで、新鮮だ。

多少滑稽に感じるセリフもあるが、全体の流れからあまり外れず、違和感はない。
明確な指標として、表紙を見て気に入ったなら買って損はないだろうと思う。
続刊が楽しみな作品だ。
