　内容を簡潔に言うと、怪獣もので青春もの、ついでに自衛隊。

　怪獣がいる世界をリアルに描いています。一応SF的な解説があるが、結局怪獣がどうしてそこにあるかについては明確な説明がありません。
怪獣はただそこにいるのであって、作者自体が対談などで述べているように、「怪獣がいる世界」を描いた平成ガメラシリーズの影響が見られます。
読者に「そうか怪獣がいるのか」と思わせる力量は見事だと思います。
　大人と子供の二組の主人公がいるため、職業ものと青春ものを同時に楽しめる点がお得だと思います。
大人がきちんと大人であり、自らのつとめを果たし、子供を導くという点で、非電撃系的な要素が強いといえますし、その点に好感を持ちました。
そのことがハードカバー、挿絵無しという本の形式にあらわれているのではないかと思います。

凄い作品だと思います。
だまされたと思ってたくさんの人に読んで欲しい。

文章、特に登場人物達の会話の作り方のレベルが相当高い。
言葉に対する技術とセンスがあるからできることだと思います。

また、主人公をはじめ、登場人物の心の動きがとても丹念に書かれていて、
かつ無駄がない。一気に読めるし、読んだ後の余韻もとても爽やかな一冊です。

同じ著者の、最近話題になってる「図書館」シリーズからこの作品を知りましたが、
時間も忘れて一気に読んじゃいました。
個人的には他の作品も含めた作者の著書の中で一番好きです。

題材からしてSFモノですが、その一言で片付けず、多くの人にぜひ読んで欲しい作品。
ハードカバーですが、物語に引き込まれてすぐに読めると思いますよ。
気持ちのいい読後感を味わいたい人にお勧めの一冊です！

ラピュタとガメラとプテラノドンが好きだという作者が書いた初のハードカバー本。
高度２万メートルで起こる二度に渡る航空機事故。
その事故で自衛隊のパイロットである父を亡くした少年瞬は、海でクラゲのような生物を拾い、その生物と交流を始める。

面白かったです。
少年と並んで、事故に遭ったときの飛行に同行し、危うく助かった光稀も一方の主人公です。
どちらの思いもとても丁寧に描かれています。
事故の原因を知って、それをぶつけられた『フェイク』の戸惑いが切ないです。
