　リバーズ・エンドが個人的に不完全燃焼気味で物足りなかったのですが"after days"はすごくいいです。彼らのその後が描かれているのですが、これがまた面白くて先が気になって仕方がなかったです。リバーズ・エンドとはまた違った楽しみがあるこの一冊はお勧めです。割と明るい話が多いのは安心できます。

タイトルの通り、リバーズ・エンドに登場したメインキャラクターの1年後を描いた作品です。基本的には直人、七海、拓己が中心となっています。ただ、完全に日常的なものなのでリバーズ・エンドの中でもこれが最も橋本先生らしく、そして良作だと思います。本編とは違って全体的に明るいです。リバーズ・エンドを最後まで読んだ方は絶対読むべきだと思います。読んでない方はまず本編を読んでからの方が良いと思います。

激動の日々を過ごした拓己たちは、戦いが終ってしまえばただの子供でしかない。
みんな離れ離れ。なくしたものを取り戻せないまま、時間は子供たちを押し流してゆく。

久しぶりに会った友達ほど、その変化には敏感になれる。
ずっとそばにいるのなら、そんなことには気がつかない。

「それぞれの」人生を歩むなかで、全員が自覚してゆく。
「Everything Passes Away」。
全てのものは過ぎ去ってゆく、気を利かせて訳するなら「万物は流転する」、というところだ。

しかし、それだけではない。
「変わらないものだってある」ことを七海は知るだろうし、「変わることは怖いことじゃない」ことを拓己は悟るだろう。

「変わんないでいいよ」「変わったっていいよ」と、矛盾するような二つの言葉を同時に投げかけたのは、B'zの「BANZAI」だったか。
