5.0 out of 5 stars 上遠野作品をすべて読んでこそ, 2004/5/1
雰囲気、世界観は『冥王と獣のダンス』みたいな感じ。
『ぼくらは虚空に夜を視る』シリーズを読んでいると裏が理解できておもしろいし、『ブギーポップ』シリーズのあの人もでてきますし。
この作品を足がかりにほかの作品を読んでもいいけど、
ほかの作品を読んでからのほうが楽しめるとおもいます。

読む前はレビューのようなファンタジー系かと思っていましたが、それは当っているようで外れていました

恋愛みたいなものはほとんど無いのに、こんなに感動できるんだな、って驚いたくらいです

やっぱり微妙に繋がっている世界観が楽しいですし、儚いです

今まで読んできた本の中では最高です
自分なら万人にオススメできる本だと思います

「電撃hp SP」に掲載された『虚無を心に蛇と唱えよ』を大幅にリメイクし、設定なども大きく変えた作品。「これが決定版ということではなく、どっちも作品です」とのこと。そういったこともあってか、作中で引用される文章の引用元が『虚無を心に蛇と唱えよ』となっており、自作中で多層的な設定になっている。

万物に秘められているエネルギー、幽質量を引き出す詠韻技術と呼ばれる魔法が基礎となる世界。ゴウクと呼ばれる大帝国によって統べられているこの世界は、若き皇帝、ローティフェルドによって治められていた。ある日、陰謀により失脚してしまった彼は、それと同時に闘争と破壊の化身として知られる、古代の超兵器（とはいえ、性別不明の魔人のような存在なのだが）「ルルド・バイパー」を目覚めさせてしまう。「俺はお前なんだからな」不思議な言葉と共に彼と関わりあうことになったバイパーと共に、ローティフェルドは自分を探しながらも再度、帝都へと戻る旅へ... 。

基本はファンタジー世界ということで、講談社の「戦地調停士ED」シリーズとの関連があるのかなぁと思いきや、それは無いようです。しかしのっけから、徳間デュアル文庫で展開している「ナイトウォッチ」シリーズとの関連が匂わされ（＝「ブギーポップ」シリーズともつながる訳ですね）、また実際「ナイトウォッチ」シリーズがかなり核心に触れるところに関連しています。

と言うようなところは楽しめるものの、「戦地調停士ED」シリーズのようなミステリ的な楽しみや、陰謀を巡る大掛かりな仕掛け、といったものはなく、結構あっさりめな感じ？少し食い足りない感じはあるものの、次回に期待といったところ？
