ブギーポップシリーズは名作が多いが、まずはこの一作。

まずトッピングとなるのは、何とも時代がかった語り手の口上。
アイスを支えるコーンには、裏で動く者たちの思惑がおりなす陰謀劇。
そしてメインのアイスにはコミカルにして真っ直ぐな優しい魔術師と、
強くそしてこれまた真っ直ぐな調理師の女性をダブルで。
彼らの強力な力と想いは、栄光と悲劇、そして死神を呼ぶ二重奏の味わい。
どんな後味を余韻に残すかは、食べてみないと分からない。

騙されたと思ってまずは召し上がれ。この極上のペパーミント・アイスを。

儚く哀しい、これはアイスクリームの御伽噺。人の痛みをアイスクリームで表す事の出来る魔術師は、人の心の痛みをその甘さと冷たさで麻痺させる魔法を知らず知らずのうちに唱えていた。そして魔術師は奇妙な栄光と没落の運命の渦に巻き込まれてゆく･･･その運命は、痛みを抱える人々やブギーポップと呼ばれる死神すらも巻き込んで。

これは冷たく甘い･･･そして何処か切ない物語。

まさにペパーミントアイスのように甘くて、それでいて切ない話。
アイス作りの達人であり、人の痛みに合ったアイスクリームでを作ることの出来る魔術師の奇妙な栄光と没落の話。その力はやがて死神さえも動かしてしまう…。
物語とアイスクリームのイメージがピッタリくる内容でした。
個人的にこれもシリーズベスト3に入る作品だと思います。
