5.0 out of 5 stars 読後感のいい怪談成長記(!?), 2008/6/1
別名のノベライズでこの著者のことを知り、
以降、ブログをチェックしていたのですが、
怪談小説でデビューすると知り、意外に思いながらも購入。

どのエピソードも、恐怖の中に「救い」があるのがいいです。
夫は「なんじゃこのラストは！」と憤慨していましたが、
私は、ああいうラストがものすごく好き。
(朱川湊人さん系のホラーが好みだからかも知れませんが)

連作短編なので、大きな流れで一つの話になっています。
最初は「霊」に対して懐疑的・冷淡だった主人公が、
様々な霊体験を通して少しずつ変わっていくという、
「成長物語(？)」にもなっているように感じました。

ホラー小説大賞でも受賞したようなので、出版されたら読んでみたいです。

土地の者なら誰もが聞いたことのある地元の噂、幽霊話を元に
怪談を仕立てるという仕掛けが良いです。
これで自然と話に引き込まれます。
会話に方言が使われているのですが、この語り口がキレがあって心地よく響き、
これによってもまた話に引き込まれます。

白眉は「迷走」という短編ですが、最後の短編に向けて恐ろしさを盛り上げています。

ただ最後の短編のラストについては、小説としては有りですが
怪談としては物足りないと感じました。
まぁこれは個人の好みの問題ですけど…

総じて、この作者は非常に才能があり次の作品が楽しみです。

友人に勧められて読んでみた１冊。
以前読んだノベライズ本のライターさんが、
別名義で書いた小説だと聞き、へえ……と。

連作になっているので一気読みできます。
目新しい題材じゃないんだけど、面白かった。
平凡な恐怖ネタでも、こういう物語に生まれ変わらせることができるのか〜と。

怖さよりも物悲しさを感じました。
失われる物悲しさ、優しい虚無感。
けれどもそれは決して絶望ではない。
「朝には紅顔ありて 夕には白骨となれる身なり」
という蓮如上人の言葉がなぜか浮かんでくる怪談です。

死や幽霊は怖く感じるものだけど、
忌まわしいものじゃないんだな……と。
