　この本は読む人を爆笑させる。
　往年のヒーロー達（ヒロイン？）の並外れた能力を散々コキ下ろす彼独特の論法は一見マジメに論述するかに見せ掛け、その実柳田的帰納法ともいうべき手法で確実に奇想天外（突拍子も無いこと）な結論に導くところに、その特徴がある。例えば「ウルトラマンがレッドキングを投げ飛ばすと大地震が起こり、その騒音でウルトラマンは気絶する」なんて誰が想像するだろう。この本を読んで笑えない人、又は怒り出す人は天才です。

空想科学読本１。初めて読んだときは爆笑しました。発売されて結構経つので知っている方も多いと思います。久しぶりに読むとやっぱり笑ってしまいます。超音速飛行するとどうなるか。光線の仕組み等・・・。物理が多少解らなくともなぜか納得できる説明で、読みだしたら時間を忘れてしまう程。

早いもんで、コレが出てから10年になるんですね。あの時小学生だった自分はコレを大変楽しく読んだ記憶がある･･･様な気がします。今まで、空想科学で「本当にできるの？」と思ってたことを実際に初めて？検証してみたのがこの本です。もちろん、当時間違いも指摘され、訂正に訂正を重ねた結果がこの新装版です。だから、お金がかかるかもしれないけれど、古い方を持ってる人も、新しいほうに買い換えたほうがいいかもしれませんね。古いほうは、結構間違いがあるらしいんで。この本は、笑える笑えないよりも（小学生のときは結構笑えたけど･･･）、科学的な見解に興味を持ってもらうことが第一だと思います。筆者も多分、そう思って書いたと思いますよ。
