自分は耽美・ゴシック・ナンセンス…なモチーフとしての
アリスについては無知な人間ですので（このくくりも間違ってるかも？）、
この意見は熱心なアリス好きの方にはしっくりこない感想かもしれません。
という事を先に書いておきます。
魅かれたのは、とにかく絵です。
ムーミンでおなじみのトーベ・ヤンソンがアリスの挿絵を描いている。
でもそのアリスは本国でも絶版らしい…。
なんて情報を持っていた一ヤンソン好きにとっては、
この本が日本で新たに出版されたという事実だけで買うしかありませんでした。
その、絵のほうは、申し分なし！です。
ヤンソン氏が彼女らしい世界観で描いた独特の世界。
得意の動物は勿論いきいきと描かれているし、人物も表情豊かで面白い。
それになんといっても色彩の美しさがこの人ならではです。
孤独で寒そうな感じも健在でイギリスという感じがしません。（ほめてます）
村上由佳さんの文には初めて触れましたが、自分にとってはとても読みやすくてよかったです。
ナレーション部分が語り口調のアリスというのも初めてでしたが、これがとてもいいんです。
自分もルイスにお話を読んでもらっているような気になって、
今までにないくらいアリスに感情移入できました。
テニエルの絵で醸し出される緻密で謎めいたアリスの世界はここにはありませんが、
それだけに今まで苦手だった人にも楽しめるのではないでしょうか。
爽やかな夏の午後を、ボートに乗りながら、
愉快で滑稽で孤独で愛おしい物語に費やす感覚が味わえると思います。
バラの紅茶も美味しいけれど、レモネードも、そう悪くないですよ。

　たまたま本屋で目に付いたのがこの本。えっ？大好きな｢ムーミン｣のトーベ・ヤンソンがこれまた私の大好きなアリスの御伽噺に挿絵をつける？あまりにうれしかったので、そのまま本屋で買ってしまいました。内容は、期待を裏切らないものでした。この本でのトーベの絵も大好きになったし、村山由佳さんの本は読んだ事ないけど、この訳もまたいいな、と思いました。
　結構前に読んだので(福音館から出てたジョン・テニエル挿絵のオリジナル版)、話の筋とか結構忘れてしまっていたんですが、ラストでは、ああ、これは本当にいい話だなと実感しました。
　そのあと、またもや衝動買いで、アニメーション作家のヤン・シュヴァンクマイエルが挿絵をつけた｢不思議の国のアリス｣も買っちゃいました。こっちはこっちで、とってもグロテスクです。アリスの鼻に蛾がついてるし。でもそっちも大好きです！
　トーベ・ヤンソンの挿絵だけでも、読む価値ありますよ。

帽子屋が関西弁…それはないでしょ。
思わずそう呟いてしまった。
いくら既訳のアリス、そしてディズニーのアリスに慣れている
と言っても、この訳は私にはどうもしっくりこなかった。
