映画を見る前にと読んでみたが、予想以上に面白かった。ラストは一体どうなるのか？主人公の精神的病なのか？ジョディーフォスターの迫真の演技を想像しながら読むとなお一層楽しめると思います。

最初は映画を見るつもりだったのが本を先に読んでしまった。主人公は航空機の設計士のカイル。夫を事故で亡くし幼い娘と夫の棺とともにﾍﾞﾙﾘﾝからニューヨークに飛行機で向かう途中で巻き込まれる事件、そして壮絶な結末。息もつかせないほどのスピード感にあっという間に読めてしまう。飛行機の中で突然姿を消してしまった娘のジュリア。必死で機内を捜索するカイルだが普通では到底考えられないことに、周りの目は冷たい。搭乗したという事実さえ消されそうになり妄想狂と間違われそうになりながらも、望みを捨てず崩れそうになる自分を懸命に支えながら捜索は続く。謎のアラブ人乗客、同乗している航空保安官、客室乗務員、機長、人々が絡み合う中、意外な人物が凶器に変貌する。そしてついにジュリアの行方を探し当てるカイル。真犯人は誰なのか、何を意図していたのか、その計画＝フライトプランには夫の死をも巻き込んだ
陰謀が隠されていた。飛行機という密室でなぜ、どんなふうに娘が連れ去られたのか、どこに隠されていたのか、飛行機の構造を熟知するものにしかわからないトリック。飛行機好きにはたまらない臨場感溢れる作品ではないだろうか。アメリカとテロ、そしてテロリストとアラブ人、考えさせられる問題を含みながらも大エンターテイメント小説として完結しているのはさすがに映画化される話題作だと思う。映画で見ればさらなる迫力はあるだろう。あとは映画に期待して星４つ。

航空機ものを取り扱った映画ということで、見る前に読んでみたくなった。
全編がほぼ航空機内のストーリーだけあって、密室された大きな空間でのドラマの進行に興味を抱かせる内容だ。主人公の航空機設計士カイル・プラット役を日本でも人気のある知性派女優ジョディ・フォスターが演じるのを想像すると、ドラマの展開が進むにつれて演技の顔が浮かんでくるようである。
「フライトプラン」を企てた人物が最後の方に明らかになるが、それまでの各人の行動からは推測できないストーリーである。ここが面白いところだろう。
最新鋭の航空機が一体どんな形をしているのか、そして機内の豪華な様子はどうなっているのか、といろいろ想像しながら読んでみた。
