文章の美しさに定評のある五代ゆうのオカルトもの。
ゼロの使い魔の魔法はゲームっぽい、レンタルマギカの魔法は専門的だが少年漫画っぽい、魔法っぽい魔法はパラケルススの娘が最高だと個人的に思う。
最新刊まで読んだのだが、とにかく演出の巧みさは類を見ない。レギーネの歯車や白い翼、魔女姫の下水道の臭いがするような魔法、吸血鬼の闇から誘う白い手、最新刊の「創られた男女」の悲哀などは美しすぎて溜息しかでない。
美文にうっとりする、たまにはそんな読書がライトノベルでもあっていい。
もちろん定石にのっとってきちんとラヴコメなどの要素もあるので、五代ゆうに入るにはここからが最適に思う。
嵌ればとことん癖になる、この美文。
個人的に気になるのはイラストか。だんだんリアル路線になってきていて、それはそれで作風に合っているのだが、和音など初登場時と顔が別人のようになっている……。

まず、世界観が確立されていて良いです。
主題が西洋系魔術なので個性こそ無いですが、揺ぎ無い世界が築けています。
また、登場人物も個性的に設定されていると思います。

しかしストーリーが今ひとつ…。
山も谷も無く、全体が複線のような感じです。
（主人公がご都合主義で覚醒したりしないのは好感が持てますが）

さらにこのお話、実力の無いキャラには殆どスポットが当たりません。
魅力的なキャラはたくさん居るのに勿体ない感じです。
（これはタイトル全体に言えます。）

主人公の能力や複線の回収等、
続巻に期待の一冊といった所でしょうか。
