　十年程前になるのか、池上版「信長」が話半ばにして絶版になった時の残念さは今も忘れない。確か、城郭の図版か何かが他人の著作からの転用であったために著作権に引っ掛かったとか、そんな経緯だったと記憶している。（記憶違いならごめんなさい）

　漫画家の中にはよりリアルな描写を求めるが故に詳細に資料を調べ、写実的に描いて行くタイプがいる。池上遼一はそんな作家の一人だし、その筆力はもう現代の絵師といっても過言ではない。仕事一途ゆえの行き違いであったのかも知れないが、悪気のないことは痛いほど理解できた。だからこそ、話し合いで解決できない問題なのか？絶版にしなければならないほどの事なのか？と、本当に残念に思われた。
　結局、この完結編が出るまでこれだけの時間を要した。やっと、当時の関係者の理解と許可が得られたと言うことなのだろう。何はともあれ幻の名作がこうして復刻され、やっと終止符が打たれたことを嬉しく思うし、関係者の方々にも感謝している。

長く待ち焦がれた人は多いのではないだろうか？いよいよ完結編の８巻が発売です。他の最終刊と赴きが違うのは永らく幻とされ、漫画には珍しく復刻が遅れた事にあります。逆にそれが今までプレミア性と浪漫を増幅させるとなった訳ですが・・・・・

さて本編を通じて言えるのは信長の父性を前面に出している事。特に光秀に対する仕打ちとも言える行為が、実は信頼の裏返しであり結局それに答えきれない光秀が謀反という形で答えを出してしまうという葛藤をうまく描いています。その他にもエピソードが多く作者の時代考証の深さをうかがわせます。なぜ幻とならねばならなかったのか。その答えがここにあります。傑作です！

7巻を購入してから、8巻はまだかまだと待って15年以上・・・、ついに読めた感激!最高です。　　再販が開始されて毎月毎月が待ち遠しかったです。
絵のタッチと史実に沿って展開される場面場面が吸い込まれそうな位、リアルで最高です。　　漫画の域を超えてる文学です。
