旅の本って、バックパッカーを揶揄したり、波乱万丈ぶりを自慢気に伝えたり、と、いわゆる「バラエティ番組」っぽいものが多いけど、このK.M.Pの旅本は別！

今回もK.M.Pのふたりらしい、旅先でののほほーんとした様子が、読んでいるこちらまで幸せ顔にしてくれる感じ。『ポルトガル』の様子をみれた、という面白さはもちろん、彼らの「旅のスタイル」を知れてよかった！そんな風に思える本です。

ヨーロッパの田舎、ポルトガルの、更に田舎町に暮らした旅の記録。イラストとコメントがかわいくて面白い。「なんで、よりによってこんな街へ？？？？」って地元の人が疑問に思うほどの何の変哲もない小さな平凡な観光名所もないような街に行って、日常生活を送る、という幸せな旅。読んでいる私たちを大いに笑わせてくれる。「なるほど~」と頷いたり、「そんな馬鹿な！」とビックリしたり、「や~かわいいおじさん（おばさん/おばあさん）だな・・」と感心したり・・・。のんびりした中にちょっとした冒険があったり・・。

この本を読んでいると、自分が小さい頃、ごくごく近所の、でも初めて歩く通りに出くわしたりすると、ドキドキ、ワクワクした記憶が蘇ってくる。そんなありふれたことだけど、当人にとってはすごい一大事、みたいな出来事を大切にして旅しているな、と羨ましくなった。

こういうのんびりした旅を（特に短期間で）実現するには、街全体を自分の庭とするには、やはりこういう規模の町がいいんだろうな、と最後まで読んで思う。こういう小さいほのぼのとした町、温かい人々がポルトガルには多い。青いタイルで彩られたかわいらしい町並みや民家、シンプルだけど清楚な美しさの光る刺繍、時代を超越した石畳の坂、七厘で焼く魚・・・懐かしいポルトガルにまた会いにいきたくなった。

k.m.p.さんの旅本は3冊とも読みました。前２作とは少し違ったイメージ、いい意味で肩の力が抜けてる本です。力の抜け具合は訪れた国の違いなのかもしれません。エジプトやベトナムとは違った空気ですね。去年の４月、この本がきっかけでポルトガルを訪れました。ただただモンサラーシュの街に行ってみたい。そして丘の街から地平線に沈む夕陽を見たい。それだけが目的でした。リスボン、エヴォラ、そしてモンサラーシュ。この本にうなずくところもあり、印象が違ったなと思うところもあり。でも、モンサラーシュのあの風景と、フレンドリーとは言えないけど信用できるポルトガルの人々、美味しい食事などなど、本当に行ってよかった、また必ず訪れたいという旅でした。この本に出会えて、ポルトガルに出会えてよかったです。
