　金子国義の描く人間達は限られたキャンバスという空間の中で踊っている。これ以上考えられない程のバランス感覚で画面に静寂さがひろがっている。彼は、歌舞伎、バレエといった踊りの中からインスピレーションを得、画面一杯に「生」を充満させ、見るものにめまいを感じさせる。中でも近年の漆黒の中で繰り広げられる姿態たちは素晴らしい。　　　　バルテュスという一時期シュールレアリズムの運動に携わった画家がいるが、かの澁澤龍彦が評したように彼はバルテュスを体現している。もし、金子画伯の絵をお気に入りのようであるならば、フランスの金子国義にも興味を持って頂きたい。この画集は、金子国義の今までの歴史を知る格好の入門書になるはず。

今までにはなかった油絵ばかりを集めた作品集。
初期の少女や少年達の作品も良いですが、
近年の作品には祭壇画のような神々しさすらあり、圧巻です。
帯にある金子氏の言葉通り、洗練されたエロティシズムを感じます。
