「MovableTypeを使って携帯サイトが構築できる」
「キャリアの差を埋めてくれるケータイキットを使えば、キャリア別にサイトを作る苦労もなくなる」
というような内容で始まります。携帯サイト作成については苦労してきた私だけに、
思い切って高い金額を出して、意気揚々として読み進めると…
『ケータイキット試用期間45日　その後は有償になります』と･･･

ケータイキットとは著者が社長を勤める会社のプラグインで、
ライセンスの値段を調べてみると、なんと10万超。一気にやる気をなくしました。
この本自体値段が高いのに、夢をそぎとられた気分です。
ちなみにその後は、ケータイキットを使用するという前提での
構築方法が延々と続きます。

私はこの本は「MovableTypeで携帯サイトを簡単に構築できる方法」と思っていましたが、
そうではなく「ケータイキットを買ったという前提でMovableTypeで携帯サイトを構築する方法」であり、
ケータイキットを購入するに至らしめる宣伝に過ぎません。
高い金を出して本を購入するであろう人間に対して、
失礼と思わなかったのでしょうか？

この本は単に筆者の会社のツールの「オフィシャルブック」であり、ケータイキットの詳しい解説書です。
この本を買っても簡単にはMovableTypeで携帯サイトを構築できませんので、
検討されている方は、その点注意してください。

ケータイキット for MT の解説本を探していたら、公式ガイドブックが発売されており、さっそく購入しました。
掲載内容は、オンラインマニュアルとほぼ変わらずですが、書籍になっていると使いやすさが格段に違います。
ガイドブックとして市販されていることから、そのつくりへの評価は厳しくあるべきと思いますが、マニュアル本としては、ステップｂｙステップ、機能別の双方で利用しやすく、良くできていると思います。
MTプラグインの公式ガイドである旨は、商品の説明にも、商品写真（表紙のタイトル部分）にも明示されています。
利用目的が明確であれば、丁寧に編纂された良書であるといえるでしょう。
