WordPress本というと『WordPressでつくる！最強のブログサイト』や『次世代ブログWordPressで一歩先を行く』などがありますが、この『WordPress標準ガイドブック』はオリジナルテーマの作成や、カスタマイズなどブログの顔となる見た目をデザインする内容が中心となっています。

WordPressには様々な魅力がありますが、遊び始めて行き着くところはやはりテーマのカスタマイズではないでしょうか？（←WordPressオフにて賛同者多数）
本書は単純にコードを並べるのではなく、どのようにすればどういう結果（見た目）になるのか、どうするのが一般的なやり方なのか、望ましいのかを丁寧に解説しています。

これから自分だけのテーマを作ってみたいという中級ユーザさん（私）や、サイドバーのカスタマイズ方法を知りたいという初中級ユーザさんはもちろんのこと、これからWordPressを始めたいという初心者ユーザさんにもオススメの一冊です。

WordPress本として初めて買ったのですが、分りやすくて大変よかったです。
内容は、既に古いバージョンのものですが、最新のバージョンでも十分活用できるものでした。
これ1冊あれば、インストールから初期設定、オリジナルテーマ作成まで十分いけます。
（ただし、XHTMLとCSSを理解できる必要がありますが・・・）
私自身、WordPressは初めてだったのですが、この本＋Webの情報少々でオリジナルテーマを作成できました。
大変役に立ちました。
本書の続編も出ているようですが、機会があれば読んでみたいところです。

初心者からヘビーユーザまで参考になる、バランスの取れた良書と素直に思います。世界で最も使用されているサーバインストール型ウェブログツールなのに日本での知名度は今ひとつの WordPress ですが、その多くの良さが余すところなく詰め込まれています。以前から専門書籍が少ない事が不満でしたが、著者が米国在住者で本場の動向も踏まえた安心感もあり、今現在出版されている WordPress 本の中では、間違いなく推薦の一冊。
