とにかくわかりやすい。初級プログラム解説本にありがちな「途中から急に難しくなる」ということがない。初心者が安心して手に取れる本。

ただし、スクリプティングのスタイルが、ムービークリップやボタンに直接書き込む（旧）方式。初心者にとっては非常にわかりやすい為このスタイルを採用したのだろうが、現在ではマクロメディアからは推奨されてはいないので、その点だけ多少注意が必要。

漫画が使用されているので、初心者に最適、解説もわかりやすいです
また、絶対パスや相対パスなど基本的な知識もあります

ゲームのサンプルもあり（あまり作りたいと思わないゲームだけど）
作りながらアクションスクリプトになれていけると思います

ただ、ActionScript全機能を解説してるわけではなく、何か作りたいと思ったときにに、この本だけでは不足です

簡単なスクリプトを数多く入れており、広く浅く知るという点では非常に良いのですが、所々にあるイラストが見ていて気持ち悪いです。

さらに、説明文を対話形式にしているせいで、どの部分を説明しているのかが分かりにくくなっています。
