日本で固形の即席カレールウが発売されたのは1954年、
林真理子さんが生まれた年です。

ご実家である山梨の商家は忙しかったので、
タマネギや小麦粉等の素材から作るルウのカレーは作られなかったのでしょうか。

正しくは、
『うんと手間とお金をかける（けれどなぜか即席料理な）レシピ。』
と思われます。

なんとなく物足りなさを感じました。
手間隙かけてという割には、そうでもないようなレシピ。手間＝加熱時間？というのは違うと思います。お手軽を否定する割にはと言う反発を持ってしまいました。
家庭でも簡単にできる時間のかかる料理という印象です。
素材を豪華にすることなんて、本を買ってまで読まなくても食べること好きなら自分で創意工夫できちゃうし。。素材の銘柄指定をしているところが売りなんでしょうか？
本当に料理好きなら調味料や素材の厳選なんてあたりまえじゃないのかな。どんな読者に向けた本なのかよくわかりません。好きなものを紹介してるっていうスタンスなら好感がもてるのですが、調理好きに耐えうるようなレシピではありません。簡単レシピ＋α位。
締めくくりの対談や、ところどころにエッセイがあるのですが、せっかく林さんならではのセレクトなので、一品ごとに、もっとエピソードが充実して、林さん初心者にもスタイルが伝わると魅力アップなのになと思いました。
レシピで勝負は難しそうです。次回作はどうでしょう。

林真理子さんのエッセイに書かれる料理のネタに前々から興味がありました。
なんとその林さんが初のレシピ本を出されると聞いて、さっそく購入。
まず目についたのが写真のキレイさ。デザインもかわいいです。
第一章ではカレー、ラザニア、ビーフシチューにローストビーフといったおなじみの料理が紹介されてます。簡単に作らずに、ちょっと手間をかけよう、というのがコンセプトらしく、林さんのこだわりのポイントが各所に散りばめられていました。第二章では、キャビアの茶漬けやトリュフのパスタ！って食材買えないでしょ、みたいな突っ込みを入れたくなるレシピもありましたが、その発想が個人的には楽しかったです。ポテトサラダや漬け丼、ニース風サラダなんかは私にも作れそう。第三章はあんみつとかシャンパンのシャーベットとか和洋いろんなデザートが紹介されてます。すべて覚えて毎日作る、っていう感じの料理本ではないですが、ホームパーティの時とか、記念日に腕をふるう時に活躍してくれそうです。
また、本上まなみさんとの対談や、セレブな仲間とのカリフォルニアのワインツアー日記なんかもあって、読み物としても楽しめました。マリコファンならチェックしたい一冊。いままでの料理本とは確かに一線を画しています。
