図書館に神様は本当にいるのかもしれない。
この本を読み終わったときふとそう思った。

誰しもが何らかの傷を負って、日常を生きている。
その傷がなんであれ、生きていくのが辛いと思うときは必ずあると思う。
そんな気持ちのときは特に本書を読むことをお勧めする。

文学、本、思考、
それらの様々なものを通じて私たちは言葉の中で生きている。
その言葉の渦に呑みこまれそうになったとき、
防波堤となってくれるのはやはり中身の詰まった言葉しかない。
だからみずみずしい文章で書かれた本書は、勧めるに値する本である。
読後感は爽やかな風と生への静かな渇望、何より本の素晴らしさを感じることができると思う。

瀬尾作品で初めて読んだ本、この本に出合えて良かった心から思えた一冊。心に傷を持つ高校の国語講師となったキヨは、たった一人の文芸部の垣内君と顧問として接していくうちに、自分の持つ正しさだけが全てではないと気付き成長して行く過程が丁寧に瑞々しく描かれている。垣内君とのやり取りが軽快で楽しく、キヨが成長の過程で文学の面白さにも気付くのがこの作品の面白いところ。この作品を読み終えると他にも
沢山の作品に触れてみたくなるのだ。この作品は文学への窓口の様な作品だと思う。とても素敵な一冊、読んで損はない。

『幸福な食卓』も大好きですが、
主人公の年齢がこちらの方が自分と近いので
グッとくる部分が多いかも。

瀬尾さんの作品は、人との距離が微妙なんだけど
こんな感じあるよね、というところが好きです。

垣内くんがたまに発言する「はぐくんでいる」が
妙に心に残り、この作品の裏テーマかなぁ〜
とも思いました。
読み進めていくうちに、
すっかり垣内くんファンになっていました。
