岡崎京子といえば「リバーズエッジ」ですが、個人的には「pink」の方が好きです。
22歳、昼はＯＬ夜は売春しながらワニを飼い、部屋をジャングルにしようとして失敗、水浸しにして、ママハハの男妾の部屋に転がりこむ、と、ユミちゃんはかなりエキセントリックな女の子のようですが、読んでいくうちに、この子はすべての女の子なのかもしれない、と思えました。
ただ幸せになりたくて、欲しいものはガマンできない女の子。
誰もがフツーに日常を生きているようで、実はガケっぷちを歩いているんだな、と改めて思いました。
「この世にはどんなことだって起こり得るんだわ。どんな美しいこともどんな酷いことも」

この本は大好きです。
結構前に描かれた筈なのに今現在も納得できる話。
全体的に感じる「夜」の空気とか、憎みあう母子とか、決してハッピーではない終わりも大好きです。
…それはそうと、まだ「桜桃賞」ってあるの？

この本を読んだとき、なんだか人間って不幸と幸福の狭間にいるんだなぁって思ってしまう。常識とか非常識とかそんなものに振り回されて生きているのが何だかとっても無意味な物のようにも感じさせる彼女の作品は、迫力があります。読んでいく内に、もしかしたら岡崎京子は自分の運命を知っていたのではないかって考えてしまいました。人間って恐い。
