NHKでの番組は、歴史上の出来事を掘り下げていく良番組だと思います。
それを期待すると物足りなさが残ります。

名言が出てくるまでの詳細な背景や、人物の置かれた状況などは、
大分省かれている印象です。その代わり1話あたりは非常にコンパクトに
書かれており、入門編としては良いかもしれません。

ある程度知識の持っている方は、
「何だ、この程度のことなら誰でも知っている」
となること請け合いです。
そのような方には、本書のようなHow to本に近い感じのものではなく、
もう少し読み応えのある本を選んだ方が楽しいと思います。

NHKの同番組が好きだったので、買ってみました。
が・・・どうもテレビと違って、本の内容を読むだけでは、歴史が動いた気がしない・・・
これは逆に言うと、テレビの画像、そしてキャスターの心のこもった語りがいかに大きいかということでしょうか。
テレビで見た回の内容は、イメージが出来上がっているので、本を読んでも心を揺さぶられることもあるのですが、見てない回については、うまくまとめられすぎている様に感じてしまい、いまひとつ揺さぶられませんでした。

ふと思い出したときの字引としての活用にはお勧めしますが、テレビで見るときのような壮大なストーリー感を感じたいのであれば、それぞれの方の小説を別に読まれることをお勧めいたします。

私はこの番組が好きで、多くの話が収録されていたので購入しました。知っている話が多かったのですが、やはり名言は何度聞いてもいいです。一つ一つの話がうまくまとめられているため、一話10分くらいで読めるため、何か目標に突き進む時に(私は試験勉強の前に)読むとやる気がたかまります。
そして、この名言を知ってもらおうと歴史嫌いの従姉妹に一話だけ読ませると感動していました。かなり読みやすいので、歴史のおもしろさを感じていない人の入門書としても最適なんじゃないでしょうか。
