聖書の中でつらつらっと読んでしまう部分を
歴史的な考察と筆者の想像力とがかみ合ってすばらしい物語になっています。
さすがに｢日本人に贈る｣と銘うっているだけあって
はるか東方の偉人達のお話を日本の歴史に照らして
類似点を対比してくれているなど
聖書には興味がなくても歴史に興味のあるおじさまがたに
おすすめできる点がたくさんあります。
電車の中で読むには少々重いですが
ぜひともお手にとってみては！？

著者は卓越した聖書・聖地知識、及び日本史知識を背景に、聖書を楽しく、読みやすい小説に仕立て上げている。聖書の時代や人物を、我等には馴染みの日本史上のそれと対比させるなど、著者のユニークな工夫が楽しく、かつ日本人には分かりやすい。読者は読み進むうちに、聖書理解にはいくつかの「つぼ」があることに気付かされ、難解な聖書理解の糸口を見出す。「聖書は読んでみたいが、むずかしくて．．．」と思われていた人には、まさに絶好の書である。
