タイトルに惹かれて読んだのですが、この短編小説の中には、１０篇の恋愛の一こまが書かれていて、ドキリとするものがあれば切なくなるものもあり、一つ一つのテイストが全く違うので楽しめました。
江国さん独特の透明感とか上品さはまだ全編に出ていなく、もっと粗野な感じ。
それゆえに、江国さんの愛読者には今ひとつかも知れません。
私としては、「サマーブランケット」は後の江国さんにつながるようなテイストで好きだし、「犬小屋」にはそのブラックユーモアにギクリと
させられ、こんな小説も書くんだ~と新鮮でした。
いずれにしても、恋愛至上主義なスタンスは、どの作品でも芯を貫いています。

愛に生きるのってこんなに切なく、淋しく、不安定なものかと思った。
「愛に生きるのは、安全でも適切でもありません」とでも言うように、主人公たちは救われず、でも決してあきらめたりしない。自分の信じる道を、ただ前だけを見るように生きていく。
読み終わった後、霧雨の様にさめざめと涙がこぼれました。

あなた自身の恋が、ページの中に見つかるかもしれません。

恋愛のヒトコマをスケッチしたというふうな、山田詠美が得意とする類の短編集。おそらく編集者側の意図によって、そのうちの数編では山田詠美顔負けの性描写に挑戦しているけれど、いかんせん、言葉が上滑りしていて、失笑を禁じえない。「世界全部が裕也とあたしの肉体になる。肉汁がしたたるみたいな裕也の肉体と、果汁がしたたるみたいなあたしの肉体と。」（「お腹をすかせてきてね」） なんて、渡辺淳一並に下品だ。既読作品の印象からの先入観ゆえに、違和感を強く抱いてしまう部分もあるのだろうけれど、それ以前の水準で駄目だと思う。

　さんざんな口を叩いたけれど、いつものペースで書かれているその他の作品はとてもいい。「神様のボート」の舞台となったのとおそらく同じ、材木座あたりの海岸（もしくは逗子からもっと葉山よりの不便なところ）を舞台にした「サマーブランケット」など、淡い関係性を描く静かな世界の中から感情の機微を鮮やかに浮かび上がらせる、著者の持ち味が遺憾なく発揮されていると思う。また過剰に束縛してくる新婚の妻から逃げるように犬小屋で寝るようになって出てこなくなってしまう男を描いた「犬小屋」なんて、安倍公房の「箱男」を思わず想起させられて、とにかくおかしくて最高である。
