「３じのおちゃにきてください」は私が幼稚園に通っていた頃に発行され、
当時大変好きだった絵本です。

小川に流れてきた笹舟に、地図付きのお茶の招待状が結んであるなんて！
幼い私は、まるで宝探しをする海賊になった気分でした！

危険の多い昨今、子供たちだけで知らない場所を探検するなんてことは
有り得なくなってしまいましたが、せめて絵本の中では自由に冒険させてあげたいものです。

今、私の子供たちがこの絵本を読んで、昔の自分と同じ感覚を味わっているんだな・・と思うと、感慨深いですね。

古い自分の絵本を現在２才の息子に読んでいますが、その中でも息子のおきにいりの一冊。
登場動物がどんどん増えていく様子はリズミカルで楽しく、みんなでケーキを作るシーンはなんとも平和でワクワクします。いつもご飯をこぼしてしまう息子は、カエルの失敗に大いに共感しているようです。それにしてもこんな高値がついているなんて。素朴でやさしい気持ちになれる話なので、普及されることを願います。

1977年4月初版の本書に、私が着ていたような服装
そのままのまりちゃんが出てきます。まりちゃんは
お茶のご招待を受けてまきばのむこうを目指します。
道すがら出会ったゆきと君といろいろな動物も
一緒です。みんなのお目当てはケーキです。

子どもの読み物に出てくるケーキは実物以上に美味しそう。
派手なデコレートでないのですが、手作りケーキ
ならではの暖かい味わいがあります。
れんげ畑、ヒメジョオン、つくし、菜の花といった
春の風景が紙面いっぱいに描かれて見ているだけで
楽しい気分になります。

ちょっとした事件がありましたが、３時のお茶は
無事すんで大きなきりかぶのテーブルの上に赤い
コップと赤いポットが残っています。
お茶会は終わったけれど、この赤い色が終わりの
さみしさを感じさせず、きっとみんなどこかに
遊びに行ったのだろうと明るい気持ちにしてくれます。
