今作については批判があるようですが、私は変わらずに読むのをお薦めしたいです。まず前文に時代や価値観の相違についての断り書きを読み、作品を読むことで世界の時代考証や価値観の変遷を見ることができます。また、残酷なシーンと言われる方もいますが、タンタンシリーズを読めば愛に溢れた作品であることがわかりますし、ただ自己の利欲の為の行為でないとすぐ分かります。
場面、場面にとらわれずに作者の訴えたいこと、描きたかったことを読み取って欲しいと思います。

　この作品でのタンタンは、かなり印象がよくないです。
　物語自体は、いつもどおり悪役との対決（アル・カポネ、アメリカにも登場）ですが、問題点もかなりあります。
　まず黒人の描き方が、かなりひどいです。
　黒人は、劣っている・西洋人より下、というふうに全部読み終えると強く感じられます。
（白人の勝手な偏見が昔は強かった、エルジェも逆らえなかった）
　
　もうひとつひどいのがタンタンがたくさんの動物達を銃で撃ち殺すことです。
いま、そんなことをやったら当然許されないことですが、当時はまだあたりまえのこと、と考えられていたのでこの作品でも結構多くみられます。
　作品冒頭でスノーウィーがアフリカに「ライオン狩りでも　とおもってさ」といっているのもなんかとても残念に思いました。
　ライオン、シカ、サル、ヒョウ、ゾウ・・・
　手当たりしだいに撃ち殺す、そんな場面はみているだけでかわいそうだし、かなしくなります。

　でもこの作品、コンゴ探検はエルジェの思う通りに描けたわけではなく、相当な部分で圧力を受けたそうです。
　（そこら辺の経緯など詳しいところは「タンタンの冒険　その夢と真実」を見てください）
だからしかたがないと思わないといけないな、と思っています。

　コンゴ探検は、問題ありの作品ですが人類が過去を反省し、これからは人種差別を許さない、動物達も守っていくべきだということを改めて考えさせられるものとしては、一見のかちがある作品です。

タンタンの魅力は数知れど、
この本の中に描かれているタンタンには残念ながらガックリきた

ゴリラにさらわれたスノーウィを助けるべく、タンタンが取った行動は、
ゴリラに不審がられないように、別のゴリラを撃ち、その皮を着ぐるみとして着て近づく事だった
動物愛護団体から何か言われそうだと思うのは私だけだろうか？

それに、コンゴの祈祷師が白人とともにグルになって、同胞のコンゴ人を騙す
というのは読んでいて、気分が良くない


シリーズの話の流れから、悪者VSタンタンという構図は分かるのだが、
なんとも後味の悪い作品だと心に残った
