この本はピーターラビットを描いた作者のもう一つの顔を教えてくれます。
ピーターラビットの作者、ビアトリクス・ポターは
菌糸類の観察と研究に情熱を注いだ女性でもあるのです。
彼女は膨大なキノコのスケッチを残していますが、
他に類を見ないほど美しいものです。
どれも今切り取ってきたばかりのような瑞々しさに溢れています。
スケッチの他にも、彼女の手紙などが収められていて
当時の女性がどんな考え方をしていたかを知ることが出来て面白いです。

少々値段が高めですが、息を呑むほどの繊細さを見事に出しきっています。
特に絵を志す人などには是非欠かす事の出来ない一冊です。
