はじめて、見たとき、あまりの頭の柔軟さに感服！
すごいです。こんなこと考え付く大人がいるんだーこの日本に！
そして、こどもに読んだら（というか見せたらというか・・）どうするだろう？
期待と不安の中、子どもの前でページをひらく。
一年生の教室で読んだ。
いきなり「えー！」
まためくる。
「えーー！」
まためくる。
「え~~~~~！」
ますますエスカレートしていき、
「え~~~~~~~」
って言うことが楽しくなってきている。
クラス全員の一体感。
どう？頭をやわらかくしたら、こんなに楽しいね。

そんなメッセージも伝わったかな？

ナイフって聴くと、刺された？などとすぐ連想しがちな、
かなしい世の中。
こんなにも、人を幸せにするナイフが、ここにある。

この本はある意味衝撃！の絵本です｡私の絵本の概念とナイフの概念を見事に打ち砕いたと言っても過言ではないのですから。それなのにこの本は、幼稚園の子供から小学生、いえ中学生、いえいえ大人でも充分楽しめちゃうのです｡何故でしょう？とにかく不思議な本です｡まだ見ていない人を探しては見せてあげたくなる衝動を押さえられない絵本なのです｡

私は一年生の教室で、家から持ってきたナイフを見せた後、この本を見せました･････予想以上の反応に「やった~！］と内心ほくそえみました。
･････私達の知らないナイフがそこにはあるのです････

ページをめくるたびに「おぉ~っ！」「すげ~っ！」の歓声。
一人で見るより大勢に読み聞かせしたとき、この絵本の本領が発揮されます。
ナイフしか出てこない、しかもほんの数ページの絵本がすっかりその場の主役になってしまう。
ほんとうに”ふしぎなナイフ”としか言い様がありません。

小学校で読み聞かせをしていますが、低学年から高学年までどよめきの無かったクラスはありません。
とりわけ特学のクラスで読んだ時に、クラスでも不安定なA君がナイフが切れる場面で、
突然トントントンと切る身振りを始めたことが忘れられません。

既成概念にとらわれない自由な心の持ち主だけが楽しめる不思議な絵本です。
