大好きだった女の先生に転校が決まった時に頂いた本です。

当時は子供だったのでよくわからず、絵が迫力があって怖いと感じていました。けれど、中学生くらいになって再び本をひらいたときすいこまれるようにして読みとおしました。以来、もっとも大切な本の一つです。一人で声をだして読むと何度でもゼロの自分に戻してもらえる気持ちになります。「みみをすます」も素晴らしいですが、「あなた」もとてもいいです。もう背表紙等ボロボロになってしまいましたが生涯の宝物です。本の形、色、文字、絵、どれ一つとっても欠く事の出来ない要素で、完成された詩集だと思います。

みみをすますは、平仮名の長編詩集なので、幼いころから意味もわからず読んでいました。成長するにつれて詩の意味を理解するようになり、読むたびに新たな発見をするようになりました。大人になった今でも開くたびに新たな発見ができ、いつまでも新鮮さを失いません。生涯手元に置きたい本の一冊です。ぜひ、平仮名が読めるようになったお子さまに贈っていただきたい本です。もちろん大人の方にもお勧めいたします。

５歳の子どもが気に入って、１人で音読しています。途中に挿し絵の版画の顔が面白いようで見るたびに大受け、大笑いしています。私も子どもの頃に読んだのですが、当時はあまり好きではなく一度通読しただけでした。今読み直すと、いろいろ心を揺さぶられます。
