転勤でやってきた町で、とても素敵なお友達が出来ました。
（お互いに同い年の子持ち。そして彼女は元保育士）
そして、また転勤でその街を去るとき、
彼女が保育園で働いていたときから大事に持っていたという
林明子さんの「とん　ことり」をくれました。
読み終わったとき、涙がとまりませんでした。

新しい土地で心細かったかなえは、私であり、私の娘でした。
そんなかなえにいろんなプレゼントを、そして友情をくれた女の子は、
彼女であり、彼女の娘さんでした。

自転車に乗っている二人の笑顔が私の心に染みわたります。
私には大事な思い出の一冊です。

4.0 out of 5 stars なぞめいた表題の「とんことり」, 2005/6/5
　何だろうかと思う不思議なタイトルの本です。郵便受けに何かを入れたときに郵便受けのふたが鳴る音が「とんことり」なんですね。新しく引っ越してきた土地で友達ができるというのは親にとっても子にとっても、とてもうれしいことです。「新しい友達ができるといいね」・・・そういった親の願望がこの絵本を支持しているのではないでしょうか。
　この物語が他と違っているのは親の存在が希薄で、一見子供だけの世界が展開していることでしょう。筒井頼子さんと林明子さんのコンビですが、「はじめてのおつかい」と同様に子供の視点で書かれていることを意識したものと思います。しかし話の展開にやや無理なところがあるような気もします。
　以前のレビュアーの方が言われていたように、「謎の女の子」を探すのは楽しいです。また、マトリョーシカが丁寧に描かれていて、退屈しているかなえちゃんの心理描写となっているのも見逃せません。つまり絵だけを追いかけても一つのストーリーができていて、さすがに林明子さんだと思わせます。最後の２枚の挿絵が突然リアリスティックになっているのは少し気になりました。それまでと雰囲気が違ってます。

この絵本の｢絵｣は林明子さんという人が描いています。この人の絵は、とても優しいタッチで暖かい印象を与えてくれます。この｢とんことり｣はもう何回、娘に読んで聞かせたことでしょう。読むたびごとに、新しい発見を絵の中にしてしまいます。登場する動物、通行人、小物、絵本など、、、、、、どれをとってもどこかに再登場しているのではないかとつい間違い探しのようになって、絵本を読んでしまいます。ところどころページが傷んできていますが大切にしたい絵本のひとつです。
