主人公の女の子の父と母への愛情、即ち、家族愛が感じられる絵本。優しいタッチの絵筆。４歳の長女が何回も読んでとねだります。読み終えてホッとする、家族愛を感じる絵本です。１歳になったばかりの次女にも、大きくなったら読んであげたい絵本のひとつです。

林明子さんの絵本はその絵柄が大好きでたくさん持っていますが、この本はその中でもとびきり「家の中の細かい描写」が楽しい本です。
またストーリーも子どもが「自分もやりたい！」と絶対思うような「宝探し」タイプのお話で、喜んで何度も何度も読んで（最初は読まされて）いました。

子どもって詳細な絵をすみからすみまでじっくり見るのが好きなところがありますよね。
（私自身も子どものころそうでした。）
さらにこの本は子どもでなくても家の中の「雰囲気」が親世代にとてもなつかしいものなので、親子で気に入って繰り返し読みました。

林明子さんの作品（作+絵も）は、どれをとってもハズレがありません。筒井頼子さんとのペアの作品以外で、子供が一番ハマったのはこの本です。最初に読んだ後に、自分で紙に何やら書いていると思ったら、突然この本の遊びを始めました。何度付き合わされたことか・・・ストーリーも結末までの流れがみごとですし、林さんの描く人物の表情は見ているだけで、やさしい気持ちにしてくれます。まだ読んでない方は、お子さんに読み聞かせをお勧めします。
