現代人はとかく言葉に頼りすぎなのではないだろうか？
そんな気持ちにさせる穏やかな絵本。

　　まだ明けぬ暗闇の中、無言で漁の支度をするおじいさんとその孫。
　　きっと幾度も繰り返した作業だろう。

　　そしてその幾度目かの、いつもと変わらない朝が静かに明けようとしている。
　　静かに船を出す二人。

　　山々に囲まれ流れる大河の水面に、小さく浮かぶ一艘の船。
　　船の上には二人の影。

　　そして夜が明ける。

なんて美しいのだろう。

図書館に行くと、必ず絵本のコーナーに入り浸るのだけど、ある日、何気なく手にとったのがこの本。 どうしても手元におきたくて、買ってしまいました。

地味な装丁も、淡々とした描写も、全ては最後のページのため。心が呼吸をはじめる一瞬がそこにある。

心に夜明けが欲しい全ての人に、本当に心からお薦めします。

今のところ、生涯ベストワンの絵本です。
この風景があれば、このひと時があれば、もう他に何もいらない。･･･　そういう瞬間を、そんな世界をこの小さな絵本は具現しきっているように思います。無音という音、さざなみの音、空、大地、水、闇と、光、そして、時の流れ。

それだけだといえばそれだけですが、本当にそれだけでもいい。と思ってしまう程です。
