絵本だからといって、絵が子供にこびておらず、甘すぎない。とてもリアルに書かれた科学絵本です。タンポポの根っこの深さを再現すべく、ページを広げて広げて・・・うわあ~!長いねー!って思わず言葉が漏れてしまうような箇所もあります。他にもタンポポをテーマにした科学絵本ありますが、これはぜひおすすめしたい1冊です。

「根っこを切って植えたらそこから芽を出す。」
「黄色だけではなく、白いタンポポもある。」
などなど、子供の目が興味で大きくなる瞬間を見ることができます。

絵も実物そのもので２歳と４歳の子供達がとても興味を示した一冊です。　お勧めです。

写実的な絵でたんぽぽの植物学的性質を細かく教えてくれる本で、親の私も知らなかった事実まで詳しく書いてあります。内容的にレベルが高いですが、文章はやさしく、文字も多くありません。そして何より子供はたんぽぽが大好きのようで、２歳になったばかりの子がとても気に入っています。平山さんの絵本は４冊目でどれも大好きですが、この本はいちごと同じく中でも傑作だと思います。
