   カステラが大好きな“のねずみ”のぐりとぐらを描いたシリーズの1冊。1966年に福音館書店の月刊誌「こどものとも」に掲載され、翌67年に傑作集として出版された。厚生大臣賞受賞、全国学校図書館協議会選定図書に選ばれるなど評価も高い。

   ぐりとぐらが見つけた大きな足跡をつけていくと、そこは自分たちの家。玄関をあけると大きな長靴があり、壁には金ボタンのついた真っ赤なオーバーと、真っ白なえりまきがかかっている。帽子に靴下に大きな袋。ベットルームやお風呂場をみてもお客さまはいないみたい。すると、そのとき「ああ、いいにおい！」

   保母をしていた作者が「とにかく子どもたちを喜ばせたい」と考えてつくられたお話で、親子二代にわたってのファンという方も多いのではないだろうか。ぐりとぐらの大好きなカステラを焼いていたのは、サンタクロース。クリスマスを楽しみに待つようになる3歳ごろから、読み聞かせてあげたい1冊である。（小山由絵）

ぐりとぐらが森の中で見つけた足跡をたどるとそこは…！そして、ぐりとぐらの家にやって来た謎のお客様の正体はいったい誰？冬の楽しさとクリスマスのワクワク感がいっぱいつまった楽しい一冊です。読み終わると、仲のよいお友達と一緒に美味しいケーキを食べたくなりますよ。

まだ子供が小さいのですが，私が子供の頃に大好きで何度も読んだぐりとぐらの絵本をいつか読んであげたいです。この絵本は今からの季節，クリスマスに読みたい絵本です。クリスマスプレゼントにもぴったりだと思います。

大きなあしあとをたどっていったぐりとぐらが着いたのは自分たちの家。大きな長靴やオーバー、まっかな帽子・・・いろんなものがみつかって、見ているこちらもワクワクします。ひげのおじいさんが持っているケーキの大きくておいそうなこと！あしあとの主はサンタクロースでした。森の友だちとのパーティーも楽しそうです。１２月に読んでみたい本ですね。
