「３びきのこぶた」はとてもよく知られたお話ですが、その結末はいろいろあり、狼が逃げていくとか、ぶたと仲直りを下などありますが、この作品では3番目のぶたが大賀意味をぐつぐつ鍋で煮て食べてしまうという結末です。それも残酷だあ~！とはかんじず、なんともユーモラスに描かれています。山田三郎さんのレトロな絵がまた味わい深く色彩も美しいです。消してこどもにこびた話の展開ではなく、最後の結末も納得が行くものだと思います。３匹のこぶたの絵本では、この本をおすすめしたいです！

　生活苦から母親に捨てられた三匹の子豚。
一匹目、二匹目の子豚は、あっさり狼に食べられてしまいました。三匹目は悪知恵を働かせ、逆に狼を食べてしまいました。
命というものが、このようにか弱いことを知り、命の大切さが解ります。そのことを子供に伝えられる良書だと思う。
　絵も上手である。登場する獣たちが、ヒトのようにデフォルメされていないところにも好感が持てます。

お話しが残酷なので、4歳の娘にはどうかなと悩みましたが、やはり原作に忠実なものを読んであげたいと思い、これを選びました。
娘は、「豚さんを食べちゃダメだよ!」と、すっかりこぶたの味方をしています。
話の展開が早すぎるところがあったり、こういう表現だと良かったのになぁと思うところもありました。
物足りなさを感じることもありますが、娘は気に入っています。
