　子どもの時に好きだった「あおい目のこねこ」。いつのまにか無くしてしまい、大人になって書店で懐かしい表紙に出会い、もう一度手に入れました。

　犬の背中にしがみついたこねこが「山をのぼって、山をくだって、また山をのぼって、またくだって、またまたのぼって、またまたくだって・・・・」子どもの頃、なぜこのシーンが強く印象に残ったのか、大人になった今では、不思議です。 　どこかに置いてきてしまったかもしれない子どもの心を思い出させる、私にとって、そんな本です。

子どもの時からの愛読書で、何十回も読んだり、母親に読んでもらったりしていたので もうぼろぼろで、廃盤になってるだろうと思ったら 見つかって、とても嬉しく、また 懐かしく読ませてもらいました。仕事にいきづまった時 や つらいときに読むと なんだか励まされます。 いつか自分の子どもができたら 絶対にすすめたいし、

大人の人にもプレゼントしたい本です。

　こどもの頃、飼っていたシャム猫がちょうどこんな色の目をしていました。そんなこともあってこの本を手に取りましたが、お話だけでなく魅力的な絵もあいまって、大切な絵本のひとつです。
　この絵本は、左右見開きで左側がおはなし、右側が絵ときちんと装丁されています。色使いは、白黒と黄色、そしてこねこの大きな目の青だけですが、かえってシンプルさが絵の魅力を引き出しています。
　青い目のこねこは目の色がほかのねこと違うということで仲間に受け入れられないけれども、素直にまっすぐ前をみて、ねずみの国を目指す姿に感情移入してしまいました。こどもは、いぬがのびてしまった姿がおもしろかったそうです。
