大阪大学総長。1949年、京都市生まれ。京都大学大学院文学研究科哲学専攻博士課程修了。関西大学文学部教、大阪大学文学部教授、同大学大学院文学研究科長・文学部長、副学長を経て2007年より現職。専門は哲学、倫理学。89年、『モードの迷宮』(ちくま学芸文庫)および『現象学の視線』(講談社学術文庫)で、サントリー学芸賞受賞。00年、『「聴く」ことの力』(阪急コミュニケーションズ)で、桑原武夫学芸賞受賞

内田 樹
神戸女学院大学教授。1950年、東京都生まれ。東京大学文学部フランス文学科卒業。東京都立大学大学院博士課程中退。東京都立大学人文学部助手、神戸女学院大学文学部総合文化学科助教授を経て、96年より現職。専門はフランス現代思想、武道論、映画論など。2007年、『私家版・ユダヤ文化論』(文春新書)で、小林秀雄賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

序論にあたる鷲田清一と内田樹の対話(第１章)、ネット言論を｢呪いの言葉｣という人類学的視点から考察した第４章(内田)、『韓非子』の説話「矛盾」をレヴィ=ストロースの父と叔父の二元性から読み解いた第６章(内田)などが、特に示唆に富む。第１章では、「最近は幼稚な政治家、経営者、官僚などが話題になるが、彼らでも政治や経済を担うことができて、それでも社会が成り立っているなら、それは成熟した社会です。・・・致命的な破綻もなく動いている日本社会というのは、きわめて練れたシステムになっている。・・・幼稚な人が幼稚なままでちゃんと生きていける。・・・欧米にもアジアにも、そんな社会ないですよ」(p10)という、現代日本のパラドックスが語り出される。つまり、「幼児化というのは成熟の反対というわけではない」(同)のだ。このような社会が可能になったのは、社会の分業と管理・合理化が高度に進み、育児、教育、食事、医療、介護なども外注化された結果、個人や家族のレベルでの「生きるための格闘」が希薄になったからである。しかしそれは新しい問題を引き起こす。例えば、高度な管理・経済的合理性という一元的価値が社会の隅々まで浸透するので、社会や個人の価値観が同質化され、ただ一つの尺度で「格付け」序列化される「息苦しさ」の出現(112)。皆が「サービスの受益者」という「消費者マインド」で功利的に発想し、自己表現するようになるため、クレーマーやモンスター・ペアレントが出現する。また、ネット言論の「匿名性」において、攻撃的な「呪いの言葉」が他者を傷つけるようになり、言論の空間自体が変質してしまった(75)。「こんな日本に誰がした」と「犯人探し」に明け暮れる右翼的｢愛国｣言論(40)など。こうした「新しい幼稚さ、未成熟｣とどう向き合ってゆくのか。重要な問題が提起されている。

　鷲田清一さんと内田樹さんの対談・・

　大人のいない国・・でも、大人がいなくても社会が上手く回っているのは、

　成熟した社会であるということ。

　未熟なものが未熟であり得るためには成熟していなければならないから。

　ところが、この「子どもだけでも経営できるシステム」が不調になったとき、

　いったい「誰が」メンテナンスを引き受け、再度制度設計をするのか？

　
　お二人の対談はとても良いのですが、最初の３０ページのみ。


　「ピンポイント選書」と銘打った本なので、趣旨どおりなのですが、

　あとはお二人の散文が載っている多分に上げ底感がするのが、ちょっと残念でした。
