この本では学芸員の仕事の全体像が分かりやすく解説されています。実際に学芸員をされている方が書いているので、普段は知ることのできない現場の話に接することができます。また、日本の学芸員と欧米の学芸員の違いが随所で説明されていて、「雑芸員」とも揶揄される日本の学芸員の現実を知ることもできます。学芸員を目指している人にはもちろんお勧めですし、そうでない普通のアートファンにも、美術館で働いている人たちの内部の仕組みを知ることができるおもしろい本なのでお勧めです。

美術館や博物館でお見かけする学芸員の方々の仕事の裏側が良くわかります。特に、実際仕事をされているかたが寄稿されているところがよいのです。企画展を行う際の、美術品の貸し出し、借りいれ、運搬などのことについてがためになりました。
