長かった。ついに待望のゲセルの主要著書が日本語版として登場した。
かつて、ある論者は言った。マルクスに代わる資本主義の代替論がないと。
ハーバマスは「私は最後のマルクス主義者だ」と語り、デリダは「マルクス
の亡霊」と言った。これらは全てマルクスこそが唯一の資本主義を総合的に
分析してかつ体系的に批判しえた近代理論だという前提に立っていた。

しかり私は敢えて言う。資本主義を体系的に分析しかつ実践的な代替案
を提起しえた論はここにあると。アナキズムが空論だと言う人はまず、この本から
読むことから初めよ。印象ががらりと変わるはずだ。国家か市場かそんな下らない
二項対立でしか考えれない人はこの本の10ページでもよいから読んでみることを勧める。
自由でかつ公平な社会の実現が可能なことを知るはずだ。

ゲセルはプルードン派で反マルクスの自由社会主義者として知られている。彼の
存在がなければケインズは一般理論を書けなかっただろうし、ハイエクが自由貨幣
発行論を書けたか疑わしい。ゲセル思想の中ではケインズとハイエクは何の問題もなく
同居できうる。ケインズは自分の思想がオリジナルでないことを隠すために前任者を
批判し続けたが、ゲセルの論に立てば反ケインズ三派の批判が悉く跳ね返せる。一方
ケインズは流動性があるのは貨幣のみであらず従って貨幣の減価は意味がないと言いながら
自分自身でインフレ化による貨幣の減価を推奨するという矛盾を曝け出した。

一方、プルードンを批判し続けたマルクスの改革は悉く戦争と内乱、粛清と虐殺
を繰り返したがプルードンを最良な形で引き継いだゲセルの改革はベルグルの地域通貨
という実践上での有効性を指し示した。それでもなお我々がアンチプルードン並びに
アンチゲセルの戯言のみに耳を傾け続けるとすれば天動説ばりの頑迷さというしかあるまい。
