書籍名だけ見ると「知財高裁」についての記述しかないように見えますが、そんなことはありません。本文５章のうち、第１章「総論」に「知財高裁」の記述がありますが、第２章から第４章はそれぞれ「インカメラ審理」、「秘密保持命令」、「公開停止」について書かれていて、一般の知的財産関連の法律の改正部分の解説になっています。（第５章は「罰則」。）
この本は、特許庁が書いている（同じ「発明協会」出版の）各年の改正法の解説本とは違って、行政庁が執筆したものではありませんが、体裁は非常に近く、立法の趣旨や経緯、該当する改正条文、内容の説明などが、改正項目ごとに解説されています。また、特許庁が書いている各年の改正法の解説本よりもカバーしている法律の範囲が広く、知財４法のほかに、不正競争防止法や著作権法の改正条文も含まれています。
なお、全１２６ページのうち、本文部分は７４ページまでで、残りは索引と参照条文です。
