一見すると、白黒写真であるのと文字が多いため小難しい本に感じますが、
初心者にもわかり易く書かれていて、とても取り組み易いです。

私は腰椎の椎間板ヘルニアなのですが、知人から一生治らないと聞き沈んでいたところ、
この本の症状別索引で腰椎症に効果があるとされているアサナのページを開くと、
『椎間板ヘルニアでも手術したり特別安静にしなくとも、このポーズをとることで効果が上がるでしょう』
と書かれてあり、たとえ完治しなくても改善の努力をする意欲を与えてもらいました。
可能な範囲で実践していますが、痛みが和らいできた気がします。

とにかくポーズの種類が豊富で（２００種はあるでしょうか）、
解説も動作ひとつひとつについて詳細に説明されており、難易度の表示もあります。
効果についても詳しく書かれているので、部位を意識して行うことができます。

アサナの実践で一番役に立つ本だと思います。

　えーと、これは凄いです。これまでたくさんのヨガの本を読んできましたが、これほどポーズのやり方について詳しく丁寧に書いてある本に出会ったことはありません。またポーズだけでなくヨガの哲学面、呼吸法などこれでもかと言わんばかりに詳細に書かれています。とりあえずこの一冊で十分です（と云うか十分すぎます）。

とにかく網羅してやるぞという意気込みがみえる「ハタヨガ辞書」です。
他の本で同じようなアサナが載っていても、この本のアサナの解説の通りやると効果が違います。
基本からかなりアクロバティックなものまで良く解説した一冊。
アサナのみに留まらずヨガの考えも手短に的確に説明してある良書です。
