このシリーズは、新版、最新版と続いているが、ほとんど内容は変わっていない。現時点では最新版も２００２年１１月発行で、内容が古い部分がある。コンテンツビジネス界は、日々変化していることを考えると、毎年、切り口を変えて編集し直してほしい。

代表的なコンテンツビジネスである放送、映画、音楽、ゲームの各業界についてそれぞれの専門家が現状分析している。豊富なグラフや図を駆使して業界構造と各業界が抱える課題を指摘しており、その分析は大変的確である。見開き１ページで１つの話題が完結しているので読みやすい反面、あまり深い考察までには至っておらず新聞記事を読んでいるような何か物足りないイメージも受ける。いずれにせよ内容は簡潔にまとまっているので、コンテンツビジネスとはどんなビジネスなのか手っ取り早く知りたい人や就職のため業界研究をしている人には有用だと思う。
