プロテスタントとカトリックのどちらにも偏らない（はずの）訳であるだけに、日本ではキリスト教界内外で最も普及している訳なのではないかと思う。しかし一番普及しているからといって必ずしもベストとは限らないと思う。訳文は確かに、ほかの現代語訳と比べたら言葉遣いが洗練されていて格調高い。しかし日本語としての自然さを追求しすぎるせいか、一部意訳しすぎたきらいもまたあり、残念ながら安心して読めるような訳ではない。特に、ほかの日本語訳や外国語訳と突き合わせてみると、新共同訳でしか見られないような原文解釈がしばしば見受けられ、個人的に好きな聖句の幾つかが新共同訳では意味が完全に違っていてがっかりすることがある。ヘブライ語・ギリシア語の原文は読めないから、誤訳なのか、それとも単なる解釈の問題なのかは判断しかねるが、同じ聖句に対してほかの日本語訳と外国語訳の解釈が一致しているのに新共同訳だけが別の解釈を取るのはどうも納得できない。原文に対して複数の解釈が可能な場合、英訳聖書ではふつう欄外注として別訳を掲げるが、新共同訳にも同じようなことはできないのかな。

「新共同訳聖書」はプロテスタント･カトリックが共同で翻訳した聖書です。 最新の翻訳ということで、使われる言葉もおおむね理解しやすいものとなっています（ただ、一部文語的表現が残っていたり、言葉の統一が不十分な個所があるのは、非常に惜しまれるところです）。 現在、多くの教会で使われており、安心して読める聖書です。

分かりやすい文体で、読みやすいです。持ち運びには便利ですが、ちょっと字が小さいで、長い間読むときは中型か大型の方がいいです。
