5.0 out of 5 stars 臨済の息吹がつたわる翻訳, 2006/3/21
故朝比奈宗源老師によるいきいきとした翻訳で、岩波文庫として出版されていたものの復刊。故大森曹玄老師による『臨済録講和』（春秋社）も朝比奈訳を採用している。元の岩波文庫の解説で述べられているように、学者からは訓読の誤りがいくつか指摘されているが、それを理解した上で禅の師家が古来からの達意の読み方を採用しているために、書き下し文ひとつとっても、読んだあとの読後感が実によい。入矢義高氏の岩波文庫本は、学問的な厳密さをもった信用できる良書であるが、厳しい自己との格闘を通して禅の境涯をひらいた臨済の息吹を強く感じさせる翻訳としてみた場合は、朝比奈氏のものの方がよいと思う。赤肉団上の一無位の真人を自覚するためにも読まれるべき語録中の王が臨済録である。
