なにしろ、書いてあることはこれまで報道されたことばかり。
たまに目新しいトピックスがあっても、適当というか主観に頼った
ものばかり。本当に取材してるのだろうか？

この本、6章立ての200ページあまりの本なのだけど、最後まで読まなかった。
2章冒頭での記述に、呆れ果ててしまったから。

『ニューヨークでみつけた宝物』というタイトルのこの章冒頭には、
新庄選手がいかにしてメジャー移籍を決断したかのバックストーリーが
紹介されていた。

そこには、
『日本の一流のプロ野球選手がメジャーでも十分に通用することはわかっていた。
　野茂、イチロー。』とある。

さらに、
『ニューヨーク・メッツにしても新庄は絶対に欲しいという選手だったわけではない。
　ただ、イチローの活躍でメジャーにちょっとした日本人ブームが起きていたのだ。』と。

バカな！！！
新庄選手とイチロー選手はメジャー同期であり、日本人野手で最初にメジャー
契約を結んだのは新庄選手なのだ！！！

スポーツ本で、こんな人をバカにした記述は初めて目にしましたよ。
ほんのちょっとネットでも調べればわかることだし、メジャーリーグのことに
少しでも関わっている人であれば、誰でも知っているレベルの話ですよ。

さらに、ニューヨーク・メッツの極東地区担当スカウトの大慈彌氏のことを
何度も『大慈氏』と記述している。

65ページ。そこでこの本を閉じることにしました。
どんなにつまらない本でも、「なにか学ぶことはあるかも」と基本的に
最後まで読む自分としては、極めて異例のことです。

時間とお金をムダにしました。星1つでも多すぎるくらいです。

行列のできる法律相談所でもモザイク入りで紹介されましたが、
実際には一切取材をせずに新聞などの文章を切り貼りしたようです。
新庄剛志特別取材班が何をどう特別に取材したのかが分かりません。
それを知るためだったら読んでも良いと思いますが、
普通に新庄剛志という人を知りたいのであればオススメしません。
よくあるさも聞いた様に書くタレント本と同じです。
