　この本は、近年急速に発達を続けている薬物代謝学について、国内第1線の研究者たちが解説を加えたものです。化学、物理学と比べると書籍数の少ない本分野では、貴重な1冊といえるでしょう。内容は、P450の基質特異性や分子種、代謝反応の特性、多形、誘導から速度論的な薬物間相互作用の予測法まで、最新の知見に基づきながらも平易にまとめられていて、学部学生から企業研究者まで広く薦めることができます。P450に限らず、NATなど他の代謝酵素も詳述されており、P450に比べると関心が浅くなりがちな酵素群についても知識を得られるようになっています。旧版では内容が代謝に絞られていましたが、2版では輸送担体に関しても章が割かれています。これによって、薬物動態学において注目を集めている、生体内低分子異物解毒機構についての入門書としての機能も果たしています。内容の質、量ともに、近年の代謝・動態学を学ぶ絶好の入門書であり、同時に研究者が動態学全体を概観するための座右の書として使用できる、良質な書籍であると思います。
