読み物として面白いテーマを題材に、「地理的思考力」を身につけさせてくれる本です。

良い点は、身近なトピックスを中心に、地理以外の内容も盛り込んで、理解させることを目的に書いている点です。暗記科目という印象の強かった地理が、少し身近に感じることが出来ました。

難点は、地理の用語が十分な説明も無く使われている箇所が少なからずある点です。地理をすっかり忘れてしまった人や、受験科目にしていなかった人にとっては、やや不親切に感じます。

論理立てて書かれていますので、前から読み進めないと良く分からない箇所がいくつかあります。気軽に読み飛ばすのではなく、少し時間を掛けて考えながら読んでいく必要がある本です。

「忘れてしまった高校の地理を復習する本」は,興味を引くさまざまな話題をもとに，地理的な考え方を養ってくれる本です。暗記するのではなく文章に書かれている内容（考え方）を理解するつもりで読むと地理の面白さがわかると思います。なお，この本は地理だけでなく現代社会や政治経済などの学習にも役立つと思います。

コンパクトでいい本だが、山岡さんの本は、やはり東進ブックスの「山岡の地理B教室」PartT、Uがいい。「山岡の地理B教室」は、もちろん、受験生のために書かれた受験参考書だが読んでいて面白いし、大人の教養書としても十分楽しめる。

この本は、「山岡の地理B教室」のダイジェスト版という感じでコンパクトではあるが、その分物足りなさを感じさせる。
