　対象読者は、CからC++へ移行するために、C++構文の基本書を読み終えた人です。
　目的はクラスを正しく実装できるようにすることです。
　この本を読むと、名前空間、参照、const指定、例外の使い道が理解できるようになります。また、クラスを実装する際に陥りがちな間違いが押さえられているので、継承によってメモリリークが発生したりコンパイルエラーで頭を抱えることが減ります。
　悪いコード例を示して、問題点と改善方法を説明し、最後に修正版コード例を示すというスタイルで書かれています。文体も平易で理解しやすいものです。（この著者の「標準C++STLの基礎知識（ASCII）」は、構成、文体とも難解なものでしたが）
　ただし、オブジェクト指向とは何か、クラスをどう設計するかについては明示的に述べられていません。タイトルから美しいオブジェクト指向プログラミングのスタイルが示されていると想像してしまいまいますが、そうではありません。オブジェクト指向の意義を理解するには他の本を読む必要があります。

同著者の「Cプログラミング見本帖」と同様の形式、
サンプルコードとその解説で１セットになっています。
１セットがそれほど長くないので、
読み進める際に区切りがつけやすく、
よくまとまっているので順に読んでいっても読みやすいです。

拾い読みするよりは最初から順に読んでいくことで、
C++言語の特徴やオブジェクト指向プログラミングが
どんなものか把握できるのではないでしょうか。

ただ、最後の標準ライブラリ(STL)の部分は
かなり端折っています。
別途書籍等で補完しないとわかりにくいと思います。

全体としてコンパクトによくまとまっているので、
飽きっぽい人にもお勧めできる本だと思います。
