スクリプトは自分で作成してみると面白いものばかりだった。
ただ、内容的には入門者には難しいと思う。入門者向きというよりは、ある程度、JavaScriptを勉強したことのある、初心者向きといった感じだった。

まったくターゲットの分からない本でした。著者の備忘録というか、自己満足と言うか。この本でJavascriptに挫折し、暫くあきらめていたのですが、書店で様々な入門書を立ち読みし、実はもっとずっととっつきやすく、簡単なスクリプトである事が分かりました。
初心者の視点に立ったとき、彼らは何を知りたいのか、何をしたがっているのか、著者にはそういった表現を勉強する事を強く要望します。

書名から Javascriptの入門書のように見えますが、実は AJAXの入門書です。
Javascript は Web制作のレシピ本から入るのが定番みたいですが、この本はそういう本よりずっと奥が深く、またデザイナよりプログラマ向けの内容なので、Javascriptの全くの入門者や言語に疎いデザイナの方にはお勧めできません。ですが、AJAXの入門書としては秀逸です。

Javascript第5版などと併読すれば、とても面白い本だと思います。prototype, jQuery, dojo の違いや特徴が簡潔かつ具体的に説明されていて、AJAXを学ぶ取っ掛かりとして、とても役に立ちました。
