　Amazon EC2/S3を使ってみたいけど、どんなものだろう？？？と思っている方って結構いるのではないかと思います。しかしこれらのサービスは日本語での展開はまだ行われていませんから、インターネット上の情報も英語が多いのが実情です。
　ちょっとしたことをやるなら日本語サイトでも紹介されていますが、実際の運用サイトとなるとそうそう掲載されていない。この本ではレンタルサーバで運用していたサービスを（一部）Amazon EC2/S3で稼働させるということを紹介しながら利用の仕方を説明しています。実際の運用を行ううえでなにがサポートされていて、何がサポートされていないかを知るにはお手ごろの本です。
　入門の本ですから、技術的なところはあまり書かれていません。そうしたものを期待する方は英語の書籍やインターネットサイトの情報を収集されたほうがよいでしょう。

入門と謳っているのでどの程度入門なのかと思ったが
レベル的には、「取り合えづ」なサーバ管理をしたことがあり、いろいろと悩んで運用しているよりもEC2いいよ。って内容な気がしました。それなのに最後のほうにはEC2だけで運用するのは危険ですよといっている？
あくまで外だし出来る部分はEC2を使いなさいよというような内容である。
また、この辺の使い勝手などは進化の最中で、Saas、Paas、Haas？などのすみわけなどに関しての記述がない状態では使い分けをどうしたらよいかは結局運用に悩むことになりかねないというような感想を持った。
UNIXマガジンの特集の方がまとまっていてよかった。
（出版時期が後のほうが強い気はしますが）

２００８年まさに今立ち上がろうとしているサービスにクラウドコンピューティングが挙げられることは間違いないと思うのですが、
本書はそのサービスの一つであるAmazon EC2/S3を利用しているユーザーによる実例本となっています。

まだまだ新しい概念でありサービスであり、本当に使えるものなのか。実際に使ってみてのメリット／デメリットは何なのか。

今、興味のあるユーザーに実に参考になる一冊だといえます。
